Why I wanted it.

I wanted you to give him a chance because I think he could actually be a GOOD player, not just an ok one, someone you would be proud to have brought into your little clique.

I wanted you to give him a chance because he reminds me a lot of you, and you said yourself, no one really gave you one. Imagine what you might have turned out like if you'd not ended up so hurt, so bitter, so frustrated.

I wanted you to give him a chance because you really don't have all that many friends, real friends, ingame, and I see in him a lot of the qualities I know you can respect and would enjoy keeping company with. He's someone you have enough in common with to share a lot of common ground, someone I think you'd actually LIKE.

I wanted you to give him a chance because I respect him, to show me that in at least some way you value my opinion, that you will at least entertain the idea that maybe I've learned enough about the game to have some idea of who to admire within the context of it.

I wanted you to give him a chance because he's something neither you nor I am. He's a good person.

I wanted you to give him a chance because it would be something we could share, something we'd be able to talk about together, some way we could interact. We don't get much of that these days, it seems. It would be something that mattered, something worthwhile, that we would both be involved in.

I wanted you to give him a chance because he has potential that should be encouraged, because he needs advice and training and good examples that I'm not a good enough player to be able to give him, but I know you ARE that good, that you could set him on the right path.
