Don't Tell Me That You Love Me

Don't tell me that you love me When we've just won the day Find something else to say It's meaningless that wayDon't tell me that you love me When winter storms have passed When summer's coming fast That sort of love won't last Don't tell me that you love me And say it with a smile Just walk with me a while Until the next hard trial Then tell me that you love me When my eyes fill with tears Or when we face our fears Just not in the good years Please, tell me that you love me When nothing else goes right That love becomes my light It keeps me in the fight Don't tell me that you love me Love, I already know Just wait 'till you can show How much that love can grow And tell me that you love me When I am feeling blue When nothing else will do When I say "I love you" ...yes, an original piece. *shrug* Doggerel, but it says what I was thinking about as clearly as anything can. When things are going well, when I'm happy, that's not when I need or want to be told I'm loved. Usually I'm afraid that hearing such a thing will somehow jinx whatever nice moment has come my way. It's when I'm hurting, when I'm sad, when I'm lonely, when it feels like the whole world is falling apart... that's when I need to hear that I am loved, that's when I need to have that love to cling to, something to remind myself that it'll get better.
*sudden slight grin* Something to remind me that it won't rain all the time. Anyway. Yeah. Gonna try to get some more sleep. Good night, world.
