Lullabye Of The Pines

You told me once that you liked my poetry. Said it sounded beautiful. I'm glad; you always made me feel beautiful, you know, and if I could give you back even a fraction of that glowing perfect you let me feel then I can be happy. For once, not something dark and twisted, no shadows, no cruelty, no cold words or half-hinted teasing. This time I am writing just for you, only for you, something I have wanted to do for various reasons and at various times in the past. It's only now that it has come together. Consider this one more moment of the truth I'm not quite sober enough to hide, not quite able to keep locked away behind lips that so often shut just when I would most like to speak. So this is those moments, those little truths, things I will deny and explain away and forget. But it's here.
Lullabye of the Pines
Pine trees grow tall, my love, pine trees grow tall Under the pines, love, where wild owls call Under the pines, love, young bear cubs lay still Fox kits all slumber in dens in the hill Willow trees sway, my love, willow trees bend Sheltering us, love, from heat the sun sends Sheltering us, love, just us and the birds We, like the foxes will sleep undisturbed Mountains range wide, my love, mountains range wide Crossing the sky, love, while you're at my side Crossing the sky, love, blue held up by brown Someday we'll go there, and make our own town Timeless we are, my love, lost in our dreams Moments we live, love, each endless it seems Moments we live, love, and treasure each one We are forever, our life never done Pine trees grow tall, my love, pine trees grow strong Distant we seem, love, believe me, that's wrong Distant we seem, love, but here we both stand This song is a promise, my hand in your hand
