Religion And I

Funny, how hindsight works...

...I could have had Nick... or Scott... or 'one of those people' talk to you, eh? Boyo, two things wrong with that.

First off, the few times I've had someone else try to explain, try to pass messages, try to tell you what the hell is going on, you've bitched about getting things 'second hand', about how you hate it.

Second... most of those people, most of my friends, hell, most of the people who know you at all... they won't talk to you. WON'T. Not even for me.

They think you're an ass. *wry grin*

Can't say I blame them.

---

Ok, now that I've gotten that out of the way... Trinian says my graphics make this look like a witch's journal. Technically, I suppose it is... have I gone off on religion yet? I'm tempted to, even though I know it'll set more than a few teeth on edge. It's nice to be able to state where I am, though.. so...

...if posts on, about, or involving religion offend or bother you, stop reading now.

Ok?

Good.

So if you're still reading, you have more or less agreed that you are NOT, in general, offended or bothered by posts on, about, or involving religion, right?

Heh... I'll trust you.

I believe that there is some higher power or force, yes. I do NOT believe that there is only 'one true way' to this Force... or rather, that the only real way to it is through belief, will, and intent.

Belief: if you believe that the way you are accessing it, whether through prayer to some specific god or goddess, some holy ritual, silent meditation, whatever, if you believe that the way you use is the way for you... then it is. Belief can move mountains. Belief is the first real key to any magic, any miracle, anything beyond the here-and-now.

Will: You need to not only believe in the existance of this Force and in yourself and your method of accessing it, but you need to have the willpower to follow through on that belief. This includes determination... and honesty. For example, if you are a Christian, but don't follow Christ's teachings or go to church, or obey the commandments, etc... then you'd damned well better have good reasons as to WHY you don't. If you're just slacking, counting on lip service to get you through... then you're not going to have much luck.

Intent: And it harms none, do as you will... this is the third cornerstone of the whole shebang. Whatever you do, whatever you believe in, whatever you work for and whatever you pray to... if your intent is good and honest and pure, the results will more likely be good and honest and pure... and effective. If your intent is evil... eh. It'll bite you in the ass, if it works at all.

Mind you, I DO believe that evil beings, evil ideas, evil goals, and evil plans have power as well. They can be VERY effective. That does not make them good.

I DO believe in right and wrong... but I also believe that life is full of shades of grey. Sometimes you have to choose the lesser of two evils. Sometimes you don't have a choice at all.

I believe that for me, the easiest, most effective, and most honest way to visualize my connections to the Power is through a pantheon, and through energy work, manipulating and experiencing the energy that the universe, and people, contain. I think that energy work is something that everyone COULD experience and effectively use... but that due to their individual beliefs, their situations, and so forth, not everyone is likely to use it, or even experience it at all.

I believe that someone who is honest, just, faithful, trustworthy, and above all true to themself is a better person than someone who is moral in public and full of darkness in private, someone who claims to believe one thing and acts on something entirely different.

I believe that beliefs can and should change and grow with you, rather than always remaining exactly the same - if you've believed EXACTLY the same thing all your life, odds are good you're not on the right path.

I believe that if sex, or BDSM, or gender identiy, or anything else, interferes with your own sense of self-worth, of pride, of belief, and of 'goodness', then by all means, do what is right for you. I also believe that what is right for YOU may not be (and prob'ly IS not) what is right for everyone else.

I believe in past lives.

I believe in the present life.

I believe in future lives, but I don't know much about 'em yet.

I believe that every human being is essentially neutral, neither good nor evil... it is our actions, our choices, and our lives that color us good or evil... NOT some accident of birth, NOT some great and holy purpose or power.

I belive that everything happens for a reason... and that sometimes the reasons are stupid or bad, and should be changed.

I believe in fate and destiny... and think that although it is hard, they CAN be fought against.

I do not believe in small dogs such as Pugs. They do not exist. *grins*

I believe that no matter what happens, life in general will work out. I have to believe this, you see... disbelieving this isn't an option for me, since if life does NOT work out in the end, after all... what is there to live for?

I believe that love is sacred and wonderful... and that it is NOT the only emotion in the universe, nor should it be. It would get bloody boring if it was.

I belive that I've written enough, for now.
