Looking Out From The Madhouse

Two more wallpapers, one light and one dark, based around the same theme. *shrugs* These aren't ones I'm all that excited about, but they did turn out well enough to be worth posting and hey, maybe one of you will find a better use for them than just wallpaper.

Meh.

Listening to a cover of 'Nothing Else Matters' by Angels of Venice. Beautiful song. I know I use that word a lot, beautiful, but I can't help it. So many of the things that are worth talking about gain their worth through how much beauty they bring into my life. Not just fine-art or airbrushed-chick sort of beauty... this is deeper. This is the sort of thing that leaves you standing, staring at a single tree in a field, watching the sun set behind it. This is the sort of thing you feel when you wake in the morning, turn over, see your lover's face as he sleeps still. This is what you feel when you can't breathe for joy... or sorrow. See, it doesn't have to be happy to be beautiful.

In some ways, sadness and tears can be more beautiful than any painting or sculpture... if they're meaningful.

Music, too. Music can be mind-bogglingly beautiful, if it fits the moment, if it stirs something within you. You know how every now and then in a movie the soundtrack will be perfect, fitting, and you can't look away from the screen because it's so...

...beautiful.

*smiles softly* I'm a very fortunate woman... So many of the things I find beautiful other people wouldn't look at twice. I can see the beauty around me. I can enjoy it, savor it, drown in each new moment. I wouldn't trade that for a 6-figure income and a house in the hills. I wouldn't trade it for perfect health. Without this view, without the rapture that I can find in so many things, life would be dust.

*shrugs*

...or maybe I'm just crazy. If so, I'll stick to straitjackets, thanks. I like the view from here.
