On Nightmares

Nightmares.

There's one that is unending, every time I dream it I am trying to rescue/warn this girl, to stop her from doing something foolish. Every time she does it. It seems to involve her assassinating someone, but I rarely get to SEE the someone's face. The dream changes small details each time - the color of the drapes in a particular room, whether or not her target is turned away or facing me when I see him, the exact pronounciation of her name, etc. - but the base of it never changes. At or near the end, she leaps off a beam of some sort. Every time. I can't stop her.

There's another one, one with my boys in it. One at a time they leave. Good reasons, rational reasons, and I can never manage to talk them out of it, or order them to stay, or much of anything else really. I end up watching them walk away, one after the other, knowing that they will never come back, ever. Alone.

There's the standard something-chasing-me dream. You know the one, where some unknown thing is after you and no matter how hard you try to get away, or hide, or whatever, it keeps getting closer. You can't escape it. You know if it gets you, something horrible happens.

So guess what I dreamed?

One long continuational dream - every time I managed to get back to sleep it started out as a new dream but somehow worked its way back to the storyline of the original... and it included all three of the above. Same girl. Same thing-chasing-me. And everyone I love, leaving.

Kill me, please. I already feel half-dead, someone just finish the job, PLEASE!
